  1. [LONG] I've thought about it for quite a bit to find a way to allow farms that require or greatly benefit from portals without requiring plugins written or any major changes to the server. I know this might be dismissed, but hope you give it honest consideration.

  3. Issues: I've been told by admins that the reason Nether Portals can't be created is because it would cause unintentional linking and that too many portals just caused headaches with how common they were in the Nether. I believe this solves any issue I could come up with,
  4.         but please contact me through /mail send tunfy if you want to discuss anything. I've put a lot of thought into this and hope it might solve issues and allow a way for dedicated players to use portals without disrupting the current system.

  6. My Concept:
  7. -These portals would be ONLY for farms and not transportation, so that the few Transportation Portals (What I'm calling current portals found around the map) are still special.

  9. -To not diminish the importance of finding the portals hidden around the world, a trader selling "Portal Token Fragment" would appear in spawn ONLY after all Transportation Portals are found.

  11. -The Portal Tokens are VERY expensive. Buyable portals would have to be redeemed through /modreq's, similar to golem spawners, so keeping them as rare as possible would allow dedicated players to use them while limiting their overall count in the nether and time spent
  12.         on fulfilling modreq's.

  14. -I'm using placeholder prices as I assume staff would come up with ones that they feel best fit the server. My example was a trader in spawn selling the following:
  15.         -64 Drachnerds + 64 Drachnerds --> 1 Portal Token Fragment
  16.         -1 Dragon Heart --> 2 Portal Token Fragments
  17.         -16 Portal Token Fragments --> 1 Portal Token

  19.         (These trades would mean that 32 stacks of Drachnerds or 8 Dragon Hearts are required to make 1 portal {Please tweak as needed})

  21. -By making these portals very hard to get, there will be fewer farms to compete for space in the Nether, also a player who has played long enough to get 32 stacks of Drachnerds or 8 Dragon Hearts should know the rules of the server and make sure to follow them when
  22.         creating these portals.

  24. Rules:
  25. -All Farm Portals must be placed on the Nether Roof to minimize confusion for people traveling the nether so they don't see inaccessible portals. Any Farm Portals made built under the Nether Roof should NOT be lit, and in the event they accidently are, should be removed upon discovery.

  27. -All Farm Portals in the Nether MUST be placed at their overworld (x and y)/8 so that no issues occur with portals linking (Mods completing the request should verify this)

  29. -All Farm Portals should be completely enclosed and protected to prevent them from being used for travel. If an entrance is necessary (aka a farm might need maintenance if something goes wrong) it should use an iron door with a locked trapped chest used as a key so only someone
  30.         with access to the chest (owner of the farm) can enter (a simple design would be this https://imgur.com/a/Y3UJrNC where the door opens only when the chest's owner opens it)

  32. -Institute a ban on building on the Nether Roof within 400 blocks of (0,0) in any direction, other than these farms, entrances to the Nether Roof, and rails/roads. This makes sure that any farms within the 6000x6000 block overworld have free space to build while still allowing
  33.         easy travel and the ability to get to the Nether Roof through Transportation Portals. Large farms built exclusively in the Nether, such as gold farms, should be built outside the 400 block spawn zone.

  35. -The Farm portal may NOT be used as a chunk loader or in any malicious way, at discretion by staff.

  37. -Similar to our current portal system, once a Portal Token has been redeemed, it cannot be modified except for mod error (so people don't keep making requests to have their portals moved).

  39. How to Create a Portal:
  40. -The process of creating a Farm Portal once you have a Portal Token would be as follows:

  42.         -The player builds portal frames in the overworld and at the exact coords (divided by 8) in the Nether, at or above the Nether Roof. The area around the portal should be closed off in its final dimensions to prevent the portal being used for transport.

  44.         -The player places a chest containing the Portal Token in front of the Farm Portal in the overworld.

  46.         -The player creates a /modreq at the overworld portal containing the coords of the portal in the Nether, similar to this "/modreq please create portal [coords of portal in the nether]"

  48.         -A moderator takes the Portal Token and lights the portal in the overworld, then enters the Nether.

  50.         -The mod breaks any portal that formed from them entering the nether and lights the portal frame the player created.

  52.         -The mod goes through the portal in nether --> portal in overworld --> portal in nether --> and back to overworld to ensure they are linked properly.

  54.         -The mod destroys the Portal Token and the player can use the portal as detailed in the other rules.

  56. I don't know if this would be implemented, but I hope this is seen. I tried to address all the issues I was told about or could think of and think that this is a decent compromise between our current system and a way to get more technical farms on the server.
